The Nexo has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the Bolt EUV’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Nexo has standard Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. Chevrolet charges extra for Rear Cross Traffic Alert on the Bolt EUV and the Bolt EUV’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert does not include automatic braking.

The Nexo’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Bolt EUV doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Nexo and the Bolt EUV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and available around view monitors.

The Nexo comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Bolt EUV’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Hyundai’s powertrain warranty covers the Nexo 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Chevrolet covers the Bolt EUV. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Bolt EUV ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Nexo’s corrosion warranty is 1 year and unlimited miles longer than the Bolt EUV’s (7/unlimited vs. 6/100,000).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Hyundai vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Hyundai third in reliability, above the industry average. With 23 more problems per 100 vehicles, Chevrolet is ranked 10th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Hyundai vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Hyundai 9 places higher in reliability than Chevrolet.

The Nexo’s electric motor produces 25 lbs.-ft. more torque (291 vs. 266) than the Bolt EUV’s electric motor.

The Nexo has a standard locking fuel door with a power remote release convenient to the driver. The Bolt EUV doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and a locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better traction, the Nexo has larger standard tires than the Bolt EUV (225/60R17 vs. 215/50R17). The Nexo Limited’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Bolt EUV (245/45R19 vs. 215/50R17).

The Nexo Limited’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Bolt EUV’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Nexo Limited has standard 19-inch wheels. The Bolt EUV’s largest wheels are only 17-inches.

For superior ride and handling, the Hyundai Nexo has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Chevrolet Bolt EUV has a rear torsion beam axle, with a semi-independent rear suspension.

The Nexo has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The Bolt EUV’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The Nexo has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Nexo flat and controlled during cornering. The Bolt EUV’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Nexo’s wheelbase is 4.5 inches longer than on the Bolt EUV (109.8 inches vs. 105.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Nexo is 4.1 inches wider in the front and 4.5 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Bolt EUV.

For better maneuverability, the Nexo’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the Bolt EUV’s (36.7 feet vs. 38.3 feet).

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Nexo Limited’s power liftgate can be opened just by waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Nexo’s power liftgate can also be opened or closed by pressing a button. The Bolt EUV doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening liftgate.

The Nexo uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The Bolt EUV uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The Nexo Limited’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches. The Bolt EUV’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

The Nexo’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Bolt EUV doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

Both the Nexo and the Bolt EUV offer rear vents. For greater rear passenger comfort, the Nexo has standard rear air conditioning vents to keep rear occupants cool in summer or warm in winter. The Bolt EUV doesn’t offer rear air conditioning vents, only heat vents.

The Nexo has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Bolt EUV doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Nexo Limited’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Bolt EUV doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
